Shopping in Salt Lake City

I completely forgot that I also had "Visit an Anthropologie store" on my life list. It is a strange thing to add to a life list, isn't it? Anyway it was on there and I managed to cross it off the list recently as well.

Maybe I can actually complete the list in this lifetime? Although "Learn to whistle a song" is proving to be a tricky one for me. I think I might have to concede that it will never happen.

Visiting Alt Summit Salt Lake City (Day 1 + Day 2)

I left the Sydney sun last week to travel to snowy Salt Lake City for Alt Summit, to meet people whose work I have loved for years and to make new friends.

After 19+ hours of traveling I arrived puffy-eyed and somewhat nervous. I was in a new country, fumbling around with heavy luggage and equipment, making my way alone to the conference. It pushed me out of comfort zone and into a place full of people with similar interests and I soon discovered that I wasn't the only Aussie to attend - go us!

Mini clipboard business cards

My business cards were in need of a re-do and the Alt Summit seems like the perfect event to try something handmade. This is what I came up with.

Dinner date

The local store convenience store provided the backdrop for these images to create a mix of retro style patterns.

I have owned the dress for forever. It has traveled with me for years and I recently re-discovered it while sorting my wardrobe. Summer in Sydney calls for light and bright dresses.

A small update on the bamboo chairs

I won't be able to tackle this project until late Feb / early March but wanted to give you a small update on where it is at.

I picked up these bamboo armchairs for a steal. The cushions are still in good condition but they have faded badly and need to be recovered. I think the previous owner kept the chairs in the sun.

My upholsterer will recover the cushions in new dacron and fabric and finish them with box piping instead of the centre piping as it is now. It will be a neater finish with no gathering.

I'm toying with whether to indulge in one of the fabric choices above or look at other alternatives. I don't mind indulging as the chairs will be taking centre stage in the living room.

Mister Moss

I received a Mister Moss geranium as a Christmas gift. Knowing my thumb tends towards being black I have been taking extra special care with this plant especially during insane heat we have been having in Sydney.

So far it has survived and I even just spotted a few flowers today!

Home Tour updated

I have been working on the blog layout, small improvements which I hope will make navigating the website easier for you. The Home Tour has been updated to include quick references of the changes made to the each space of the house. Here's an example:

Dressing out of my comfort zone

I bought this dress to wear to an upcoming event. It is a colour-themed party and I was looking for a green dress (this one is more of a green / blue in person). The dress caught my eye in the shop window with its glittering sequins. The sun loved it.

Visiting Fiji after Cyclone Evan

I have been out of town with the boys travelling to Fiji for a summer holiday. It was nice to get away from everything and switch off my mind for a while. I also crossed off an item on my life list "Travel on a plane with Robert" - done!
