Visiting Alt Summit Salt Lake City (Day 1 + Day 2)

I left the Sydney sun last week to travel to snowy Salt Lake City for Alt Summit, to meet people whose work I have loved for years and to make new friends.

After 19+ hours of traveling I arrived puffy-eyed and somewhat nervous. I was in a new country, fumbling around with heavy luggage and equipment, making my way alone to the conference. It pushed me out of comfort zone and into a place full of people with similar interests and I soon discovered that I wasn't the only Aussie to attend - go us!

Continue to see what Day 1 and Day 2 looked like...

A special thanks to Freedom and Bing for sponsoring my trip to Alt Summit SLC.

  1. Wow Viv! Your blog was one of the first I started reading (when you were pregnant with Robbie!) when I started blogging myself. My dream is to attend Alt Summit or BlogHer. So pumped for you to be reaching these goals - go you! Can't wait to hear more about the whole she-bang xxx

  3. Thanks Emma! Wow - that's a long time reading :)

You should go next year if you can - it's a fun event and there is value even if you aren't looking to monetise your blog but just want to connect with like-minded people. I'll have more to share tomorrow.

I'd love to have a read of your blog - what is the URL?

  4. Welcome to Salt Lake City. Sorry for the cold weather. It's been hard for us locals so I can't imagine what it is like for you.

I just discovered your blog a month or so ago. I've been enjoying it. I was excited to find it as my mum is from Australia and all of her family is still down there. They are all over the country but mostly centered in Sydney and Adelaide.

Keep up the wonderful and inspiring work.

  5. Oh my gosh, it looks like it was amazing. I've known you online since before you were even blogging, like 2006, and it has been so amazing to watch this little blog grow into something so amazing. You're such a talent and I can't wait to see where you go next x

  7. Kristian, it was cold but also so beautiful. I'm not used to seeing snow so it was such a delight to wake up every morning, look out the window and see a sea of white. Stunning. But I can imagine living in it day in day out would be a very different experience.

Thank you for reading ish and chi and for your kind words x

  8. Well done Viv! The trip sounded (and looked) spectacular! You've been a huge inspiration to me and by the sounds of it, most of all the women who follow your blog. Such an achievement whilst juggling motherhood, studying and working - so glad it's working out for you. You seem like such a down-to-earth person and you truely deserve to be where you are....

  10. It was so lovely meeting another Aussie so far from home. Made me realize what a distinct flavour we have which is a good thing. Still makes me laugh that we met because Haeley and I spotted your peacock sequins.

  11. I just saw this today, when I noticed that Holly had commented on the photo of us on Facebook. I don't know how I missed it earlier, but I wanted to tell you how glad I was that you were at Alt Summit. It was so nice to meet you — truly!
