Wonki Ware

Did you enjoy your weekend? We had an extra long one thanks to our Labour Day public holiday and David and I used the time to work on the outdoor project. It is pretty much done now so looking forward to sharing with you soon! If you are on instagram I have been sharing some little sneaky photos (I'm ishandchi on instagram if you would like to find me). PS. I also announced the winner of the Masters $500 voucher.

Today I was flipping through photos filed away on the Mac and fell in love with these detail shots from the kitchen photo shoot, especially the ceramics. Jane introduced me to Wonki Ware. I hadn't known of the company before the shoot and my research led me to their website.

The ceramics are handmade in South Africa and the company employs people from disadvantaged backgrounds and provides them with training in pottery making. Their story moved me.
Two of the goals on my 'Life Is Beautiful" life list is to "Contribute to my local community" and "Contribute positively to the world through design". I don't know how to (yet) but I am inspired when I come across companies such as Wonki Ware.

Do you dream big too? And what do you think of the ceramics? Feel free to browse the collection HERE.

Psst: Wonki Ware is available in Australia at Peponi Home, owned by Lisa Wright, and there are stores in Leura and Penrith.
