Yesterday I listened to two inspirational speakers at Designex and it reaffirmed my love of design. Ilse Crawford and Alice Rawsthorn spoke about Design and Happiness. I tweeted quotes from Ilse Crawford's discussion and left feeling overwhelmed.
I'm heading back again to Designex tomorrow. It's a must see event if you are a design nut and if you have time why not book in to listen to some of the talks?

What fantastic inspiration! I love that second quote especially. Design that hinders communication and makes it hard to talk is just pointless.
ReplyDeleteDo you think the design bug can run in the family? My mother is an interior designer, and my sisters and I joke that we spent out childhoods at wallpaper stores rather than playgrounds. Of the three of us, two inherited her design obsession. Does your family care about design, too?

DeleteI definitely do think the design bug can run in the family. My mum always loved changing things around in our house so I would spend time looking at fabric and curtain samples with her and she'd ask for my opinion. My mum is very house-proud and I think I get that from her (although she may disagree!). My parents also encouraged me to be creative. I played the piano from age 6 and loved to paint and draw from a young age but in terms of design, my parents didn't work in the industry so I have been learning all about design myself. It's interesting to think about this isn't it - how we are raised may influence who we become. Wow.
