Headboard Idea

Truthfully I am no closer to making a decision on a headboard for Robert's new bed. I am swimming in fabric samples looking for the right one but I am so indecisive.

I must say thank you for all of your great suggestions for a headboard when I wrote about Robert's new room here.

One suggestion was to:

I like the idea of adding natural wood to his room for character and warmth. Perhaps something like this DIY headboard from House*Tweaking which happens to have my favourite word written on it:

Or I can imagine a row of hanging buntings painted in white on the wood would look great too.

There seems to be a problem with the server hosting my website. I've uploaded the images via flickr instead.

  5. Love the natural wood headboard idea. Can't wait to see what you end up deciding on. It will look amazing, I'm sure ... you have such great taste and style.

  6. see, as much as i love the concept of a wooden headboard for a bed....

....but can i just pipe up on Robert's behalf here? I'm not sure how old your little bundle of joy is, but I'm pretty sure I can remember from being a kid I viewed beds as there to be bounced on and in. Surely a hard wooden headboard will invite all sorts of trouble from splinters to headbangs to septicemia from rusty nails??

ok im just playing devils advocate here, but for little ones? i vote cushy all the way! what about an old school circus poster - would be awesome if you could get the font printed on to fabric? e.g. http://tinyurl.com/63vqxwm or http://tinyurl.com/68f94jr (start his love of graphic design young....;)

PS have you seen this uber cute vintage circus hamper? http://www.flickr.com/photos/25887639@N03/4114352328/

    PPS love your blog Viv!

  7. I like the raw old wood look as well. Beautiful. You can't beat an old metal bedframe at time's. It has such a classic romantic feel.

  14. Hi Viv,
There are so many designs that you can do for a children's bedroom. My only recommendation is to choose something with padding as children like to play and jump around on their beds and bang their heads. Have a look at www.thefabricframe.com.au - we can help you choose a fabric or design and get it custom made! Emily x
