Black wall love

My love affair with black walls is not yet over. Oh no, far from it. It can add drama and elegance to a room but can also make it feel cosy as though you have been cocooned in a warm blanket.

I think they look especially great as a feature wall behind a bed as shown in these photos of Belinda's bedroom makeover (top) and Jules's makeover (bottom).

Simple changes are sometimes the most effective I think. Please head over to Belinda's and Jules's blogs for more photos.

  4. Me too! I'd love to paint one of our walls black. Unfortunately, we're renting and I can't imagine how hideous it would be to try to paint OVER a black wall when it came time to move out :/

  5. I adore black walls! I'm currently trying to decide whether to paint my loungeroom a charcoal grey or outright black...

I also love the pattern on the window in the top photos... Black walls with bright white trim is just perfect :)

  6. I love the idea of a black wall, as I have said before.
    Would you ever do it?
I know you were thinking about a colour for the stairs - would black work there?

  8. thanks for the love, Viv!

Lydia, the picture is actually a card from Typo Blu-Taked to the wall (and blu-taked shut!). I'm a bit hopeless when it comes to art and stick up all sorts of things random things!

  9. So elegant and love it with the pops of gold in the 2nd bedroom. I've been playing with the idea of black or dark charcoal grey walls... time to wander the house and think about where I can incorporate the idea! Gorgeous!

  11. This is very true! I recently did a backsplash with black chalkboard paint and then added a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote above the stove in gold.
It's definitely one of the warmer parts of the home now for sure!!
