Colour and pattern

Hello! I'm here, I promise. This week is flying by. I was browsing the Interior Styling group again today and this image by Flickr member ...jutta... caught my eye which is part of the March group challenge to style items on a chair.

The wallpaper, magazine spines and gumboots are a fun mix of colour and pattern, don't you think?

For a treat, have a peek inside her home here.

Fashion Friday: A shy smile

The starburst doily is hanging and looking oh-so-pretty. When Robert spotted it his reaction was "ooo.. wow" so it looks as though he's a fan.

You might remember the skirt I'm wearing from this Fashion Friday post. I have worn it lots of times since. I find that when I have favourite clothing item I tend to wear it over and over again until I get bored of it or I find another favourite.

The top is a little big on me but it doesn't look too bad tucked into the skirt and the headband makes me feel like a little girl. I remember reading somewhere that grown women shouldn't wear headbands. I hope that's not the case because I have a rather large collection of them.

Enjoy your weekend, my friends!

Headband: I think it was from Diva

The starburst doily

I have nicknamed this wall hanging my starburst doily because it reminds me a little of each, don't you think?

I think it will look lovely hanging. I had a couple of ideas of perhaps fixing a small convex mirror in the middle or turning it into a clock (if only I knew how) but I like the way it looks as is.

Wall hanging: Target. On sale.

Missoni butterfly bedspread in Real Living

Goodmorning! The little one is napping away and I'm quickly popping in to say hello. I'm hoping to use the time while he is sleeping to curl up with a magazine and a coffee. One thing I absolutely love about the interior design course I am taking is that we have to collect and read interior magazines. Such a chore I know, ha!

I was attracted to the latest Real Living magazine because of the cover. I voted for this cover back when the Real Living team reached out to its readers to vote for last issue's cover and it is nice to see that they used this image for the April issue. I couldn't stop staring at the graphic black and white Missoni 'Jolie' bedspread and the dramatic black wall. The bedroom is that of interior designer Jacinta Preston. She has done a fabulous job with a bold black, white and red colour palette.

The bedspread is on my wish list but it doesn't appear to be available in black any longer. At over $1500 I would have to save for a long while for it anyway.

Okay, I'm off to read the rest of the magazine now.

Fashion Friday: The chevron shoes

A lovely reader suggested skinny jeans and a pretty top to match with these shoes and that is how I've dressed them up for this week's post. Some might say jeans are boring but they are easy to wear and match and I'm all about getting dressed super quick these days.

In this photo I am holding iceberg roses cut from the garden. I have six of these rose plants all in a row in the front garden and they have exploded with flowers over the last few days. So pretty.

Have a beautiful weekend and thank you for your kind words this week. It means so much to me.

Messages in the mirror

Today I wanted to share with you these little messages written onto mirrors by Iro-Ivy. I have long admired her Flickr photos of her crisp, white and dreamy home. I bumped into her in the Bloganistas fashion group and discovered that she has some serious fashion style too. We live in opposite seasons but she had me wishing for winter scarfs and woollen coats while it was heating up here in Sydney last month.

The love quotes were handwritten back in 2004 with a silver permanent marker and she tells me they have survived their regular cleaning by using a gentle cloth. Such a sweet idea.

Finding my feet again

We are halfway into March. That went by a little too fast for me. I apologise for my absence and I hope you haven't wandered too far away.

I have been going through some changes in my personal life and things are a bit of a roller coaster ride at the moment. Some days I wonder if I will ever find my feet again. I considered taking a much longer break from ish and chi but I enjoy writing, dreaming, wishing, planning and sharing my thoughts with you.

So I just wanted to pop my head in here and say 'hi' and I hope you have been well. See you back here again tomorrow.

PS: These shoes are a little preview for an upcoming Fashion Friday post. I'm still trying to find an outfit to match with them.

Hello and welcome to autumn, or spring, depending on where you are in the world!

I am writing to let you know that I will be taking a little break from posting. I will be back in a weeks time soon (I may need some more time, I'm sorry). In the meantime I hope you enjoy the first few days on this new season. See you back here very soon my friends!
