In a few months time I'll be able to cross off another item from my "Life is Beautiful List" - Visit Palm Springs to see the mid modern architecture. I have booked a trip to go in February next year for Modernism Week and to also explore Los Angeles.
Have you been to Palm Springs or LA? Any tips you might have for where to stay or things to do would be wonderful. At this stage we are thinking of staying at The Saguaro in Palm Springs. The colourful hotel is such a contrast to the desert landscape and it looks amazing, don't you think?
♥ Images above of The Saguaro. See the gallery for more photographs of this colourful hotel.

You will have a wonderful time. I love palm spring such a gorgeous place. Take the tram up the mountain and watch the sunset. Take a light coat it will be cold up there.
ReplyDeleteLA, so much to do. I am from there so I will try and pull ideas together and send to you this weekend.
Xx
Callie
Callie - thank you so much!
Deleteyou'll love the Palm springs in February. The Ace is where all the Fun is! It's across the street from the Saguaro. I'd split my trip in two and spend sometime in both La and Palm Springs. The desert is good for a few days, but LA has so much to offer.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Palm Springs itself but when I eventually do I am dying to stay at The Ace.

LA is great. So much to see though so I hope you have plenty of time.
Oh wow, The Ace looks awesome!
DeleteI'm going to be spending some time time in both Palm Springs and LA. We are there for 2 weeks. Hope it's enough time!
check out the Viceroy in Palm Springs with interiors by Kelly Werstler. We stayed there in March and had a few days sitting by the fabulous retro pool. It's quite closely located to some of the really authentic mid century streets with amazing houses. Great for an early morning walk before the sun gets too hot.
ReplyDeleteHi, I live in Los Angeles. There is a great hotel near Silverlake Junction called El Tres Inn if you plan to stay in the Silverlake area. Otherwise, there are tons of great places in Venice or Marina del Ray if you're looking for beach access. I recommend La Pizzeria Mozza for pizza, La Costa Mission (in Malibu) for amazing Mexican, Great Greek or Taverna Tony for Greek, and Cafe Gratitude for vegan. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteI went to college at UCLA, so here are my recommendations based on my time in LA:
ReplyDelete- Oceana Hotel (Santa Monica)
- W Hotel (Westwood)
- Parker Palm Springs
Eat at:
- The Stinking Rose (Beverly Hills)
- Palomino (Westwood)
- Duke's (Malibu)
And I went to USC, so based on my time in LA I'd recommend checking out the farmers' market at third and fairfax, hiking the trail to the Hollywood sign and going for a drive on the Pacific Coast Highway. Zuma beach up by Malibu is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteFor food, Umami burger is a personal favorite, as are many of the food trucks that park by LACMA. Across the street from LACMA is the Architecture + Design museum, which is small but cool.
I'm in Palm Springs right now (big tick on my life list!) and I am staying at the Ace. (Its like being at a Big Day Out!) I wish I had splurged and stayed at the Parker instead. It's just the most amazing place ever, and probably more like you style than the Ace. If you don't stay there you'll have to visit it!
