The IKEA Dream Kitchen Project: The demolition

Sponsored by IKEA
The other week I shared with you the planning process of the kitchen renovation and not too long after our visit to IKEA all of the pieces of the new kitchen arrived - flat packed!
Diane’s family emptied all of the existing kitchen cabinets in preparation for the IKEA “demolition” team to arrive. IKEA worked carefully to remove the existing kitchen and all the pieces were put into storage.
What was most exciting to see is the new kitchen starting to take shape as the new cabinets were pieced together and the installation began. I’ll share with you more as we progress.

I asked Diane what she thought about the demolition process:

How did you find the demolition process?

Diane: The team took care to preserve the old kitchen and move it to our makeshift storage area protected by tarps as best we could. Storms prevailed that week but luckily no water damage to the old kitchen.

The laundry and bathroom sinks got a workout with no kitchen sink available. We were lucky to have family close by so preparing meals for our two young boys was managed with some appreciated help.

  1. I would be really interested to know more about the 'ease of use' of Ikea for a kitchen from start to finish. My Mum needs a new kitchen and is considering Ikea. She is not able to do any of the work herself. Are Ikea more of a DIY thing, or can you use them from start to finish??
