Making flower bombs

Over the weekend I was lucky to have been invited to the debut of Megan Morton's new workshop space called The School. Under the instruction of Holly Hipwell (isn't her name awesome?) of The Flower Drum (left) and Megan (right) we set about to make flower bombs. Are you wondering what a flower bomb is? Yep - so was I and if you read on you'll see what it is.

There were sweets and refreshments (and champagne) and as I was chatting away to the super lovely Pepa from Shibori who I successfully distracted from her assigned task of marking guest names from a list, in walked Belinda from The Happy Home. I can't tell you how cool it was to finally meet Belinda after being blog friends all these years! I also chatted with Lexi from Potty Mouth Mama, Mr Jason Grant, Lisa from The Red Thread and met stylist Jane Frosh. There were so many people to meet but I can be a bit shy at these events. And anyway, I had to focus on making this flower bomb!

They are simple to make and all you need are flowers, scissors, a round flower foam with netting, string and water (and marshmallows, lollies and donuts are a bonus). Here's a tutorial if you want to make your own.

My flower bomb is now hanging proudly in my home and when Robbie isn't throwing it around the house narrowly missing anything that can break, it hangs on the window looking all pretty.

The School workshop timetable goes live today so be sure to join to mailing list to see all the classes. There will be some fun classes for kids too.
