Artwork for the living room

Aboriginal art has long captured my interest and my wish is to fill my home with a collection of colourful aboriginal paintings on almost every wall. This piece is a new now hanging in my living room by artist Jeannie Mills Pwerl. Each stroke looks as though it is painted with a brush loaded with various colours at once and the colours that are used... I adore!

Lovely to see that Jen of MadeByGirl liked my painting so much she purchased one for herself too. Have a peek at her beautiful painting here.

Crystal you are a mind reader. I am planning on buying some beautiful pink ikat cushions from Table Tonic. They would be perfect.

  12. How did you manage to find such a gorgeous Aboriginal painting?! I love it. Can I ask where you bought it from?

I love Aboriginal Art, but only have one small piece in my home which I picked up for $180 years ago at a local market. Not only was the price right but all proceeds from the sale went back to the artist and to their community. I think that's important and I love good karma!

Would you be interested in seeing it on my blog? I'll have to post it over the weekend :-)

  13. Viv, It looks super pretty, how did you frame it?? did you send it to a professional framing company? or DIY? Let me know... :))))

  14. This one is from ebay but there are lots of galleries that sell her work.

Jen I had it professionally framed. I thought it might look better than just the plain wrapped canvas to accentuate the white dots in the painting. Let me know what you end up doing with yours. I'd love to see pics.

  15. It isn't very Australian to say this but...... I dont normally like Aboriginal art that much! That painting that you have scored though - it is absolutely gorgeous. Those colours!!! Gorgeous.

  16. That piece is unusual with the pinky tones, definately a one off find. I have bought a few pieces from aboriginal artists in WA (the first I could only afford prints and framed them myself, but also have an original on canvass a friend framed for me). They're all great to look at!
