I found the image that inspired the name of this blog. Can you see what I am referring to?
I couldn't resist showing you. I was flipping through my old magazines, came across this page in an old Real Living and now it is up on my inspiration board.
I'm assuming the two people are standing out the front of a fish & chips shop. When I saw this image I remember craving fish and chips afterwards.
What do you think of the wall of magazine pages? I can see this idea working well in a kids room, similar to Natalie's "Young Explorer" room that I mentioned yesterday with the collage of maps on one wall. You could even try hanging a collection of vintage children's book illustrations or your own child's drawings and if your child draws on the wall then it doesn't really matter!

Ah, now it all makes sense...I love a mystery solved!
ReplyDeleteLovely inspiration, I love what you've done with it. It takes talent to see what you saw in this image, Viv. ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure it was talent Katia. I think it was the pregnancy making me zero in on anything food related :)
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty clever!
ReplyDeleteThat is oh so cute!!! I'm loving it...I did always wonder??? Thought it was nicknames. Now I know.
ReplyDeleteah funny!
ReplyDeleteI love the story behind your blog name! I was wondering... =)
ReplyDeletehow nostalgic. love it.
ReplyDeleteI am about to change my blog name and have been scouring magazines and life for something that clicks. I love how you found your name. I hope I have the same divine inspiration. x
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in junior high my friends and I covered the walls of our bedrooms this way in order to hide the childish wallpaper of our elementary school years. The 80's were a pretty colorful time (neon makeup and clothing... and those great Benetton ads) so it made for quite a striking display.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us where you got your inspiration. That one definetly stands out on the wall, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice story! And I love your blog too. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I had noticed the Ish & Chi in this image before and wondered if that is where your name came from! I love the name Ish & Chi - and the fact it was inspired by fish and chips.
ReplyDeleteI definitely like this idea. It inspires me to try it in a room of my house that could use a little quirkiness.
ReplyDeletethat is so cute
ReplyDeleteIn my early 20s a flatmate and I completely covered the main wall of our rental in black and white pictures we'd torn out of the fashion magazines we spent hours pouring over. We thought it was fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me laugh. I always thought you got the title from the song. You know....."Ish and chi Lovely....Ish and chi Beaut - i - ful........"
ReplyDelete:)
I did this as an older teen, during my avant-garde stage *L*. My step-mother would show everyone when they came to visit. :)
ReplyDeleteAh - just like all your other readers who have commented - I love that you have shared this with us! I love the story of how your blog name was found. So fab! Thanks.

I was pondering how the name came about - I love it. Never would have guessed from a close up on a f-ISH & CHI-ps sign. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI imagine it serves as a wonderful reminder to see the world a little differently!
