Hotel Tour: Staying at The Avalon Hotel

After a 14 hour flight, the first stop on our US trip was the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. It is a hotel I have admired from far by looking at photos of Kelly Wearstler's work so it was nice to see it in person. It was a little tricky to find the hotel which is tucked from view behind trees but I believe it is part of the allure of the hotel - a bit of a hidden treasure.

When we stepped inside, the Oliverio restaurant caught my attention first. This is a gorgeous little restaurant that overlooks the pool area and the cabanas. I loved the flooring, as well as the marble backdrop at the bar. It was also nice to see the detail in the space such as the ruched sofa which is typical of her style and the striped ceiling that makes the low ceiling feel higher and extends across to the reception area. It all felt very elegant and glam.

The rooms also carry through the soft blue/green and white colour scheme. I obsessed over the mod-style  bedside cabinet made of what looks like mother of pearl. The photos don't do it justice!

Geometric shapes were a common element throughout from the artwork, to the marble tiles of the bathroom to the painted brickwork of the cabanas.

We explored the Beverly Hills area during the day and then visited the Stahl House which I'll share with you next. It was nice to relax by the pool and fireplace in the evening, although briefly. We were exhausted! My only wish is that we could have stayed here longer than one night to enjoy the facilities more.

This post is dedicated to my friend Emily Sephton.
