Robert's room is progressing! The bed is in place and it has new bedding. I am so glad his tepee still fits in the room given the bed looks massive in it.
I am still on the lookout for a lovely bed head. Any recommendations?
Looks lovely!! I have a thing for gorgeous settee's and yours fits the bill :)
It doesn't look like there's a lot of room for a headboard with the window above...what if you did a headboard decal thing? Or a painted-on-the-wall headboard? They look great, but don't take up any space. Just a thought to add to the list of possibilities :)
Looks great. What about making a headboard yourself from some MDF. You can cut it into any shape you like, and could cover with fabric, wallpaper, or just paint it? This way you can also change it if you ever change your mind, too!
Robbie's room looks amazing Viv! Not sure if this idea is too grown up for a toddler, but I am imagining a very light tan leather bedhead in a natural finish leather that will age beautifully. The colour would be a perfect foil for the pale blue and red. Try NSW Leather for different leathers, you may need to ask for one with a natural finish as I don't believe they are on the website, but they do have them. I'm currently playing around with the idea of some products using a natural leather for the store.
Or for fun, a bedhead in the same Skinny Laminx fabric as the cushion would look fab too.
Viv - i think Robert's room looks great!! i love the colours and linen! Are you worried about his bed not being against a wall?? As for the bed head - you should make a simple padded one. I did one for my son's bed when he transitioned from a cot to bed. I posted about it last week as I made a new slip covering for it. It's MDF then padded, and covered in any choice of fabric and oh so easy to make!
The transformation to toddler room looks great! I remember reading about your home makeover in Real Living mag, and thinking the whole package was just my thing.
I don't know how cushy you wanted to make his bead head - but if you weren't wanting to pad it, then I could suggest an old tongue and groove door or reclaimed timber, either left in a raw weathered look, or perhaps even smoothed off and limewashed or something. You have lots of suggestions... enjoy thinking about the possibilities and getting creative :)
Great room! For extra play floor space, and peace of mind, I always like to push kids beds up against the wall (e.g. the far wall where the dresser is, and then put the dresser against the wall where the bed head is). It might not be to your liking from a design standpoint, but I have found it seems to work better for them feeling safer and having more room to spread out on the floor.
This room is so, so darling! I love the idea of using a reclaimed door for a headboard. Or an old flag or even just the same linen as the throw. Wonderfuol job!
The room is gorgeous! I hope to decorate my little man's room soon. I'm a bit stumped though, I started with a nautical theme and then changed my mind half way and started collecting vintage toys to go all vintage, so it's all mish mash at the moment.

Looks great Viv, love it
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome -I bet he loves it!
ReplyDeleteWhat about a flag or some kind of fabric for a headboard? It wouldn't take up much space, but would add some visual structure to the head of the bed.
Such a great room. That linen looks great.
ReplyDeleteI must say I'm a tad envious of all that light.
Robert is on very lucky boy
