I usually think of light, bright colours but this year I have swayed towards darker, moodier colours.
I haven't incorporated darker colours in my home as yet until I purchased this Lazybones quilt. It is tempting me once more to paint the wall behind my bed black. I can imagine the reflection of the mirrored side table sparkling against the wall.
Should I? Or will the room stick out as being very different to the rest of my house?
More black wall love can be found here:
- Belinda and Jule's bedroom walls
- Victoria's wall
- Autumn's study walls
- Black and white striped bedroom walls
- Jacinta's bedroom walls and that bedspread - still love!
PS. I wrote about Lazybones over here too.

Oh Viv, I L.O.V.E this quilt!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the dark wall though but I'm fairly conservative.

Do it! You can always paint over it again. x
ReplyDeleteI am in love with that quilt! I think the dark wall would look sensational as well
ReplyDeleteGo for it! I think it will look amazing esp with the framed wallapaper pictures :)

absolutely adore your room!
ReplyDeleteI say go dark! With that delicious new Lazybones quilt, it's just crying out for some dark moodiness.
ReplyDeleteI bought a white Lazybones quilt for my daughter's bedroom earlier in the year when I was in Bangalow. So pretty! I wish her room was mine sometimes.
Do it! I've taken the plunge and am painting our entire bedroom really dark and it looks fantastic. Instead of black I've gone for a really dark grey with a brown/purple tinge (Porters' Rococo) and it's very dramatic. You've been talking about it for so long that you'll always wonder - and you can always paint it back if you don't like it.
ReplyDeletego on! I LOVE my black wall. though i do have white linen and ticking-fabric headboard to break it up a little. maybe grab some a black sheet of calico or something and tape it to the wall behind the bed and see how it looks. at least then you won't have the horrid job of painting over black paint if you don't like it!!! quilt is beautiful - love the colour! x
ReplyDeleteI love your new quilt and I usually love black walls in bedrooms but I am not sure about this one - I think it is perfect as it is and it might clash with the rest of your house.
ReplyDeleteI think it would look fantastic Viv!! Do it!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks completely fabulous. Go the black wall I say - perfection.

beautiful quilt! i think the room works really well already with the black quilt and head board but is the black wall going to be one of those things you wish you had always done?! i think you should go for it, you can always paint it back...

It will look very dramatic if it's dark - could look fab! And the quilt is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is just beautiful Viv!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about painting the wall black ... it will definitely make your lamp, framed artwork and mirrored bedside table pop ... and will also frame your bed!
Go for it ...
xx
That is definitely a beautiful spread and now you need something else dark in that room to help anchor it. It seems like you've got a lot of light in there so you should be able to paint a wall dark and not have it suck out too much light. Black is pretty potent though so may I suggest a deep charcoal or a paint with higher gloss to help reflect some of the light. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love it! My wall behind my bed is painted black and I have never regretted it. Besides, it's just paint if you get sick of it you can paint it another color.
ReplyDeleteI got that quilt from Anthropologie (Rosette quilt is what they call it) and LOVE it!!!!it is SOOO soft and comfy! I say GO FOR IT with the black wall!
ReplyDeleteL O V E the quilt, don't love the idea of the black wall though sorry. But good luck if you do take the plunge.
ReplyDeleteI love it- we have our walls in the main opposite each other in black- looks amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! And I like your room the way it is. I think the quilt stands out with the white wall. But either way, you have a pretty bedroom!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was noooooo white is so lovely. But then I looked at the pic again and you're right! Your night tables are screaming for a darker paint to up their glimmer. Love the quilt by the way!
ReplyDeleteI love this look as I'm drawn to dark colours - but also love crisp, white bed linen. Thanks for the lazybones tip. Do you know if you can order their homewares online? Have a merry xmas Viv! x
ReplyDeletego for it viv - will look fabulous with that quilt.
ReplyDeletei've not regretted my black wall for one second, i'm still in love with it!
